Well actually it was during a party on a rooftop terrace in Geylang when five local residents met and discovered they all had the same idea of opening a local bar. Not just your typical watering-hole or hawker, but a more contemporary social space that serves the community and provides a platform to showcase, celebrate and nurture local talent. 

 

They believe the term ‘local’ goes beyond just referring to someone born and bred in Singapore. It means someone who supports their ‘local’ neighbourhood wherever in the world they may come from. The founders now wish to give something back to the area they have all grown to love and contribute to it’s rejuvenation. Hence The Tuckshop: ‘Made by Locals’.
